She won't be on her own, Woody. I'll be up her stockpile all the way to the nutsack.

So you pop off to the footie with your little pals, she's going to be busy.

And don't expect dinner when you get back.

I can’t make my mind up about this.

Be a good laugh with some mates but my mum might be on her own so I’d have to bring her as well.

Sven, you are dead right on the two points you made but in those days they needed people through the turnstiles or no income coming in.

The Saturday before Christmas is the busiest shopping day of the year for retail stores. The day before Christmas Eve is typically the 2nd busiest, although many people are doing their grocery shopping on that day. Christmas Eve is quieter - partly because it's blokes going out shopping without the missus, but mainly because the shops shut early so they can get ready for Boxing Day sales and not have to work on Christmas Day preparing. Boxing Day now is about the 6th busiest day - mainly because much of what people buy in the sales they can do online.

Should make that period about games between teams close to each other.
Newcastle away in London on Christmas Eve is bonkers
Wouldn't be allowed to happen as tv want Man City v Man U and Spurs v Chelsea at times that suit them not the fans.

Thanks Charley.
Could have sworn I went to one when I was younger though. Maybe caught up in all the Christmas excitement it seemed liked Christmas eve.

In 1925 we played at home to Cardiff on Christmas Day, went to Cardiff on Boxing Day and then Preston on the 27th

Tomsdad pinched from kumb:-

However you have to go back 57 years to 1960 in order to find the last occasion on which United played on Christmas Eve at White Hart Lane in a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham - with the corresponding fixture played at the Boleyn Ground 48 hours later (Spurs winning that one 3-0).

I did think a few weeks back that this game could be moved regardless of the tv.The Saturday will be much busier at westfield than Sunday because your getting a full day of opening plus late night shopping.Although i wouldn’t be surprised if the club has volunteered itself to be on xmas eve.

I'd expect Sat 23 to be more
Even though it's Xmas eve the fact that it's Sunday will reduce the 24th

Re: Newcastle h on Xmas eve ????????????
You think there is any difference in the number of shoppers on the 23rd or the 24th? Don't think too much.

Re: Newcastle h on Xmas eve ????????????
I thought we couldn't have boxing day at games due to safety concerns with the shopping centre open and doing a roaring trade?

Surely the same would apply on Christmas Eve?
